Celesco's new PT8600 model String Encoders consist of industrial rotary encoders mated to Celesco's durable linear cable reels. String Encoders are commonly utilized when end users need a linear measurement, but require the signal output provided by a high resolution incremental or absolute encoder.
The PT8600 model String Encoder provides the user with a variety of linear measurement ranges up to 50 inches. These String Encoders can utilize any type of incremental or absolute encoder, including many well known encoder brands. The PT8600 supports the common 2.0 and 2.5 inch square flange encoder mounts, as well as metric, 58mm to 65mm face-mount encoders; other-sized encoder mountings are also available. The encoders provide all the common digital outputs, such as quadrature, SSI and Devicenet.
The PT8600 consists of a cable spool that is coupled to the encoder shaft: the spool translates the linear cable motion into the rotary motion of the encoder. The PT8600 design results in 5 inches of linear measurement per encoder shaft turn.
Metric versions provide 125mm of linear measurement per encoder shaft turn. Rugged by design, Celesco's String Encoders are industrial-grade devices that stand up to harsh, challenging environments. The robust design of the String Encoders makes them suitable for applications such as press monitoring, valve positioning, material testing, and hydraulic cylinder feedback. Because cable alignment is not a critical parameter, installation is quick and easy.
